Swindon Wildcats have signed Estonian winger Toivo Suursoo on a two-year deal. The 34-year-old played for the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL in the 1990s and has also played in the top leagues in Sweden, Belarus and Latvia. Most recently Suursoo has won championship medals in Denmark in 2005 and 2008. Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge says: "He's a great skater, very strong on the puck and has a great shot." This will be Suursoo's first appearance in the UK. Aldridge added: "Toivo is a top player, a guy that our fans will love to watch every night. "There are not too many guys in our league, if any, that have enjoyed a career like his. He comes with pure pedigree and I am over the moon about having him on board with us for the next two years."
