Carlson weighed in with assists in both wins over Belfast at the weekend
Coventry Blaze coach Paul Thompson has praised forward Dan Carlson after equalling a club points scoring record. Carlson's assist in the victory over Belfast on Sunday equalled the club's record of scoring a point in 14 consecutive matches. Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "He's our heartbeat. He makes us tick. "Cream always rises to the top and he's a quality hockey player and that's why he's been here five years." Carlson is one of five players to share in the record - Jonathan Weaver and Adam Calder are on the current roster and have both managed the feat along with Hilton Ruggles and Steve Chartrand. | He's our heartbeat. The forward would set a new standard with a point in Cardiff in Blaze's next Elite League fixture against the Devils on Boxing Day. Thompson added that he persevered with Carlson despite a barren spell towards the start of his Coventry tenure. "He might not have been getting the points for us in the early days but that happens," he said. "Every player has a lull - you've just got to give them confidence that they'll get through that and he's done that in abundance."
