The draw for the 2009-10 Challenge Cup has been made, with the eight Elite League clubs split into groups of four. Belfast, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Sheffield make up Group A, while Coventry, Cardiff, Hull and Nottingham have been drawn in Group B. The first match in the competition will see Coventry Blaze take on Nottingham Panthers on Saturday, 6 September. Teams will play each other once at home and once away, with the two top in each group qualifying for the semi-finals. The semi-finals will consist of a two-legged home and away series, with the final also being contested over two legs.
