Outstanding performances from both net-minders ensured Coventry Blaze and Belfast Giants ended up all-square in the Challenge Cup semi-final first leg. Blaze's JF Perras and his counterpart Stevie Lyle made a total of 74 saves at the Skydome Arena as the two sides shared a 1-1 draw. Belfast's George Awada opened the scoring in the second period. Greg Wood then levelled with his first goal for Blaze before both net-minders shut up shop. The second leg will be at the Odyssey in Belfast next Wednesday night (4 February, 1945 GMT).
