Two wins in two days helped to maintain Chelmsford Chieftains position at the top of the ENL Division Two South. The Chieftains began the weekend with a comprehensive 12-3 victory away to the Lee Valley Lions on Saturday. They followed that up on Sunday night with a 7-3 home win over the Solent & Gosport Devils to remain unbeaten in the league this season. The weekend's top scorers were Ross Brears and Richard Whiting, who hit three goals apiece in the two games. The Essex outfit brushed aside the Lions at the Lea Bridge Ice Centre thanks to braces from Brears, James Ayling, Sean Easton and Jerry Pavlus and single strikes from Richard Whiting and Lee Brears. The Devils proved to be more of a test at the Riverside, trailing the Chieftains 4-3 at the half-way mark. But two goals from Whiting and a single from Ross Brears ensured the points for the home side. Danny Hammond also netted twice, with both Gary Brown and Nathanael 'BT' Williams netting once. The Chieftains have the chance to further extend their league lead, when they travel to second-placed Invicta Mustangs next Sunday.
