Neilson recorded his second victory over the Steelers as coach

Nottingham Panthers coach Corey Neilson has hailed his side for an almost faultless display in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sheffield Steelers.

Panthers came from behind with Brendan Cook levelling in the third period and Matthew Myers winning the game 56 seconds into overtime.

Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It was a game of few mistakes and both teams played a good system.

"We finished our checks and the crowd really helped us inject some life."

A season-high crowd of over 7,000 supporters sold out the National Ice Centre for the second meeting between the two sides in two days.

Steelers had taken the bragging rights on Boxing Day with a convincing 5-2 victory in the Sheffield Arena.

Over the two days Sheffield have stretched the lead at the top of the table over the Panthers to five points.

Neilson added: "We are disappointed we gave them a point tonight [Saturday] but that's a very solid team with four exceptional import defencemen who move the puck so well."
