Nottingham Panthers closed the gap on Elite League leaders Sheffield Steelers to six points with a 3-2 win at Basingstoke on Wednesday. Jade Galbraith scored Nottingham's first only for Warren Tait to equalise. Bruce Richardson and Johan Molin gave the Panthers a 3-1 lead before Bison's Eric Braff closed the gap. Panthers captain Danny Meyers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We played as well as we could here there were some nice plays but the ice is pretty bad." He continued: "We play a fast game where we like to support each other, unfortunately the ice isn't good enough for that and we had to adjust. "It is without doubt the worst ice surface in the league as the ice itself is very chippy [uneven]." Panthers are now lie third in the Elite League with 36 points, two points behind second placed Coventry.
