Cardiff Devils just edged past Hull Stingrays in Wednesday's Challenge Cup game to keep their slim hopes alive and knock out the Stingrays in the process. After two periods of below-par hockey, the Devils finally secured the win in the final 20 seconds. Michael Hartwick struck from long range to win it for the hosts, after Hull had pulled net minder Curtis Cruickshank. But the Devils will require other results in Group B to go their way if they are to progress in the Cup. The game was dedicated to former BBC Wales Today presenter Bob Humphrys, who died of cancer in August.
