Peterborough Phantoms have announced new financial backers have completed a takeover of the club.

Local businessmen Simon Lamb and Dave Lane, alongside Phantoms star James Morgan, are the new owners of the English Premier League side.

A club statement announced: "We now have a consortium in place to move the club forward.

"We wish to assure all supporters following the recent speculation concerning the safety of the club."

The Phantoms are currently second in the EPL table, five points behind leaders Guildford but with five matches in hand.

Based at Peterborough's Bretton Rink, the Phantoms were formed in 2002 following the demise of the Peterborough Pirates.
