Manchester Phoenix coach Tony Hand says his team missed import Bruce Mulherin in the 4-3 defeat by Belfast Giants.

Despite a goal from David Beauregard and two from Adam Walker, a strike from Belfast forward Paul Deniset in the closing seconds settled the game.

Hand said: "We missed Bruce for sure as the Giants rolled three very good lines of forwards.

"Bruce will have a scan this week and hopefully we'll learn the extent of the injury and how long he'll be out."

He added: "It's disappointing to lose that late in the game but we'll bounce back.

"We got great support for the Giants game - the fans were terrific in getting behind us."
