Guildford won last season's league title but Wightlink finished bottom |
Guildford Flames' Premier League ice hockey title challenge took an early hit with a shock 6-4 defeat at home by Isle of Wight Raiders on Sunday. Lukas Smital put Flames ahead but they shipped four goals in five minutes. Juraj Rusic scored twice alongside goals from Tom Long and Shawn Mole to put the Island side 4-1 up. A Vaclav Zavoral goal and two from Paul Dixon hauled the Flames back, but Adam Brittle's powerplay goal and an empty net strike sealed the Raiders' victory. Isle of Wight propped up last season's Premier League table as Guildford won the league title.
