Dixon led Flames to the title in his first year as boss (Alan Bone) |
Guildford Flames missed out on an English Premier League and play-off double after losing 4-3 to Slough Jets in the semi-finals. The Flames suffered the defeat despite opening up a 2-0 first-period lead. Player-coach Paul Dixon said: "Our powerplay was ineffective, but the Jets did a flawless job of containing the guys who we want to have the puck. "We had a great year and I truly believe we showed we were the team of the year by winning the league title."
