Stingrays sign centreman Reynolds

Strachan says Reynolds is a good leader

Hull Stingrays have signed centreman Matt Reynolds from American IHL club Forth Wayne Komets.

The 27-year-old Canadian helped the Komets to the championship title last season and Rays coach Rick Strachan says it is a real coup for the club.

"He's a leader who's not afraid to get involved," Strachan told BBC Radio Humberside.

"He's a good player with great offensive capability who can play at both ends."

Reynolds, who had spells with the Forth Worth Brahmas and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in the ECHL in North America before joining the Komets, posted some impressive statistics last season.

He bagged 23 goals and 37 assists in 89 games and says he is excited to be coming to play in the Elite League for the Stingrays.

"I've heard some good things about them. I hope I can do a good job for them and Im looking forward to the challenge and playing overseas for the first time."

Strachan believes Reynolds will fit in perfectly: "He will be one of the guys that will be expected to contribute offensively and play on the power-plays which he is comfortable with."
