Newcastle Vipers have signed Canadian netminder Andrew Verner on a two-year deal from Austrian side Klagenfurt. The 35-year-old will hold a coaching role in addition to his playing duties and boss Rob Wilson said he was pleased to welcome him to Tyneside. "Andrew is an outstanding talent to come to the UK and we are delighted to have secured his signature." "He is a first rate netminder and will be the best to have played in this country," he added. Verner possesses an excellent CV having played for the Edmonton Oilers in the elite NHL and a string of top clubs across Europe.
