Perras replaces Koenig at Skydome

Perras' attitude has impressed coach Paul Thompson

Coventry Blaze have moved quickly to replace netminder Trevor Koenig by signing JF Perras from Elite League rivals Edinburgh Capitals.

The 27-year-old French Canadian arrives at the Skydome as Koenig departs for Rodovre Mighty Bulls in Denmark.

Head coach Paul Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "He gets very feisty in practice. We need that injection of character.

"I've made my decision. I'm happy. He's ecstatic about the opportunity."

Perras joins last season's League and British Knockout Cup winners on the back of Edinburgh's best ever season, having reached the play-offs and a cup semi-final.

Thompson added: "I like his training methods.

"If you score a goal against him he'll start screaming at a player. If you miss the net he starts screaming because he wants to work and get a feel of the puck and I think I need that."
