Finnerty has scored 145 goals during his 10-year career |
Sheffield Steelers have re-signed Ryan Finnerty for a third season. The versatile 27-year-old Canadian scored 20 goals last season for the Steelers and was one of the key figures as they won the Elite League play-offs. Coach Dave Matsos said: "I know I can play Ryan in various positions. Every team needs a Ryan Finnerty, we just happen to have the genuine one." Finnerty joined the Steelers from Caldaro in Italy in 2006 when he replaced Brett Clouthier. This season, he scored 20 goals, had 58 points and led the team in penalty minutes racking up 245. "I love it in Sheffield and returning to the Steelers was always my number one aim. After the season I spoke with Matty [Matsos] and was delighted to be able to sort a deal out as quickly as we did."
