Slough Jets shocked rivals Bracknell with a 5-0 whitewash at the Hive to avenge their 3-2 defeat a day earlier. Michael Bowman scored a brace after a first period in which Carl Thompson, Joe Ciccarello and Kevin Phillips gave Slough a comfortable cushion. Michal Kanka's knee injury, following a collision with Slough captain Nicky Chinn, compounded Bracknell's misery. Slough are now two points clear of Bracknell in English Premier League play-off Group B. Bowman, who returned to the Jets line-up on Saturday after a six-week lay-off, picked up his team's man of the match award for his goals. Jets goaltender Dean Skinns also had cause to celebrate a rare shut-out against Slough's near neighbours. A day earlier Bracknell had themselves caused a shock, coming from behind to beat Slough on their own patch. Peter Jasik scored the game-winning goal with a fierce, low slapshot in the third period. But the Bees appeared a totally different team on home ice, devoid of ideas, inspiration and passion. Slough could barely believe their luck as they raced to a three-goal first period lead and, once the injured Kanka had abandoned his attempt to return to the ice, the home side had nothing left to give. Bracknell now need to win both their games against Milton Keynes next weekend to guarantee a place at next month's finals in Coventry. Slough will qualify if they win either of their two fixtures against Swindon.
