Nottingham Panthers coach Mike Ellis says his side's defensive class shone through in the thrilling 6-3 Challenge Cup final first-leg win at Sheffield. Ellis told BBC Radio Nottingham: "In the first period they threw everything at us because they had to. They played great defence and tremendous offence.
"But we weathered the storm really well and it showed in the second and third because we had more energy."
The second leg is at the National Ice Centre on Wednesday, 20 February.
