The Belfast Giants made it 11 wins in a row when they beat Newcastle Vipers in the Elite League on Wednesday. Belfast scored twice in the second period with Mark Dutiaume netting a short-handed opener and Shane Johnson adding a power play goal.
Newcastle pulled a goal back but Peter Campbell got an empty net goal right at the end for the Giants.
The second-placed Giants are five points behind Coventry but have played three more matches than the leaders.
A home match against Manchester Phoenix and an away trip to Nottingham Panthers follow for the Giants this weekend.
