Peter Campbell scored a late goal for the Belfast Giants

Belfast scored twice in the second period with Mark Dutiaume netting a short-handed opener and Shane Johnson adding a power play goal.

Newcastle pulled a goal back but Peter Campbell got an empty net goal right at the end for the Giants.

The second-placed Giants are five points behind Coventry but have played three more matches than the leaders.
