Belfast Giants suffered a bad weekend in the Elite League with Saturday's 6-3 home defeat by Manchester followed by Sunday's 6-2 loss in Coventry.

Former Giant Curtis Huppe put the Blaze ahead in Sunday's game and Coventry went on to claim a 4-0 lead.

Scott Cameron scored both Belfast's goals in a defeat which leaves Ed Courtenay's side joint bottom in the Elite League.

Ryan Smith, Mark Morrison and Courtenay scored for the Giants on Saturday.

Smith gave the Giants an early lead but a brace from Joe Tallari put the Phoenix in control.

Manchester surged clear thanks to goals from Sean Starke, Brian Passmore and former Giants coach Tony Hand.

Mark Morrison and Ed Courtenay gave the hosts hope of a late comeback but Brett Clouthier netted with just a second left to seal the points.

Belfast beat Edinburgh 2-1 in their league opener before being hammered 7-1 by the Cardiff Devils in the Challenge Cup.
