Cardiff Devils coach Ed Patterson has criticised the delay in the building work for their temporary new home. The Devils' former city centre ice rink home is being demolished to make way for a 500m shopping complex.
Cardiff Council pledged to put up a temporary rink in Cardiff Bay, which was due to be ready for 21 October, but now November seems the earliest date.
"I'm frustrated with myself for trusting the word of the Council in a seamless transition," Patterson said.
"But what's most frustrating is that I've given my word to players over certain things.
"I understand that it's a big world out there and the Council isn't overly concerned about one business, but there's plenty of kids out there who don't have ice hockey, don't have public skating."
The Devils have had to travel back and forth from a Bristol ice rink for training, while other conditioning work has had to be held at a leisure club in Cardiff.
All their matches so far have been on the road, but despite that the Devils have impressed by winning four, drawing one and losing one of their opening six matches.
While the players have managed to perform on the ice, the lack of home matches is having an impact on the club's finances off it.
"It is tough, but I'm confident we'll have plenty of fans to come out and support us when we do have a home and make up for not having any income right now," Patterson added.
The Devils lost 9-4 in a friendly at Swindon Wildcats on Thursday.
