Manchester Phoenix player-coach Tony Hand is to return to play for Great Britain and will also become the team's assistant coach. Hand last appeared for his country in 2002 but will now be involved in Britain's upcoming World Championship Pool B tournament in Slovenia.
"I want the GB programme to work and to win," said Hand.
"I am a coach now and that is my future, so the position is one that certainly had my mouth watering."
Great Britain coach Paul Thompson said: "Getting Tony on board is a major boost to the whole programme."
