Market Rasen officials say they had no option but to abandon Boxing Day's meeting for the second year running.

Up to 11,000 people were expected at the meet, but snow and ice meant the fixture had to be called off.

"It's a big hit. There is some insurance in place so that is some comfort," managing director Pip Kirkby told BBC Lincolnshire.

"Hopefully these two years are a blip. It's pretty rare for the cold weather to come this early."
