Ryan Moore has been lined up to replace Richard Hughes should he decide to skip the Breeders' Cup to concentrate on the race for the jockeys' championship.

Hughes kept his title hopes alive with a winner at Nottingham on Wednesday to cut rival Paul Hanagan's lead to two.

Moore is set to replace Hughes on Paco Boy in the United States on Saturday, the final day of the English season.

"It's a shame for Hughesie but it's a lovely spare to get," said jockey Ryan Moore of the potential substitution.

Is is thought Hughes will make a final decision about whether to travel to the Breeders' Cup on Thursday.

Hanagan had built up a lead of five winners by Monday and was odds-on to secure his first title but Hughes has put in a late surge to keep him in contention.

The pair have two outings on Thursday - at Lingfield in the afternoon ahead of Kempton's evening card.

Hughes was initially unable to ride in Britain on Friday as he would have reached his quota of nine fixtures for a week.

But after missing Kempton's Wednesday night card because of travel problems, he could now race at either Southwell or Wolverhampton if he can pick up a spare ride and is cleared by the British Horseracing Authority.
