Champion jockey Ryan Moore missed out on a winner on his return to the saddle at Salisbury after more than three weeks out with a wrist injury.

Moore was fourth on Caraboss for Sir Michael Stoute before being unplaced on Richard Hannon's Tale Untold.

The 26-year-old was injured on 9 August when his mount Rocket Rob fell having passed the winning line in third in a race at Windsor.

Moore's absence has hit his hopes of a fourth jockey's title.

He trails rival Paul Hanagan by more than 30 winners and said after unsaddling Caraboss: "It's good to be back.

"You are always going to get injuries. The end of the season is two months away and anything can happen."

On Friday, Moore is due to travel to Lingfield's afternoon meeting to ride Jeremy Noseda's Lost In The Moment, before heading to Kempton for three rides at their evening fixture.
