Balding took over the Kingsclere stables from his father Ian in 2003 |
Kingsclere trainer Andrew Balding says he is targeting the Sussex Stakes for Dream Eater at Glorious Goodwood. The five-year-old came third in the Summer Mile Stakes at Ascot but Balding told BBC Berkshire he will improve. "Jimmy Fortune feels he'd have won if he'd delayed his run - he hit the front a furlong out and the horse has to produce at the last minute," he said. "He's getting to know the horse better with each run, so hopefully he'll get it right at Goodwood." He added: "The jockey's blaming himself but I don't blame him personally." Dream Eater, whose last win was a dead heat in the City of York Stakes at Ascot in August 2009, had a breathing operation over the winter. He finished third behind Goldikova and Paco Boy in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.
