Stevie Gee, ridden by Joe Fanning, won the 2009 Carlisle Bell after a late challenge on the outside to Motafarred.

The 20-1 shot ousted Motafarred as well as Bold Marc, who was overhauled during the final stages of the race.

Observatory Star and Kiwi Bay were 13-2 joint favourites, but finished in the bottom two.

Fanning also came in second on Yes Mr President in the 1610 BST, while trainer G.A. Swinbank scored a second winner with Honimiere in the 1640 BST.
