Unbeaten Hungarian racehorse Overdose has been ruled out of Royal Ascot in June because a foot injury is taking longer than expected to heal.

The four-year-old was already forced to miss the Temple Stakes at Haydock on Saturday after developing the problem.

"The inflammation spread from his left fore leg to the right," owner Zoltan Mikoczy told the Racing Post.

"The sad thing is that he has no chance of running at Royal Ascot because there is no time left to prepare him for it."

An abscess was removed from the injured front left foot but the horse will not be able to return to his regular training routine before the end of May.

The horse, who runs under the colours of the Hungarian national flag, was entered in the King's Stand Stakes and the Golden Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting, which begins on Tuesday 16 June.

"Today's X-ray showed no change in the structure of the bone in 'Dozi's' hoof," said Mikoczy.

"The inflammation is going away and Dozi is now standing on both his feet and is turning around in his box on both feet.

"If all goes well, he can come out of his box on Thursday for his first walk. This will be decided after the result of Wednesday's X-ray."
