AP McCoy has so far ridden 2,998 winners over jumps in his career |
Market Rasen has missed out on being the venue for jockey Tony McCoy's 3,000th winner over jumps, after Tuesday's meeting was abandoned. The decision was taken after an inspection on Monday afternoon. Managing director Pip Kirkby told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Tony was scheduled for three rides and could potentially have reached 3,000 here. "It's a disappointment, but with two inches of snow on the track and the forecast for more we had no choice." She added: "If by some miracle there's a thaw it would only lead to waterlogging, so to help everyone's planning we thought we should abandon it as soon as we could."
