Dettori, left, leads home the pack aboard Rio de La Plata |
Ramonti claimed a Group One double in the BGC Sussex Stakes, just holding on from Excellent Art at Goodwood. Never too far from the pace under Frankie Dettori, the 9-2 chance and winner of the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot stormed down the straight.
Jamie Spencer pushed 15-8 favourite Excellent Art two furlongs out but did not find the pace, with Jeremy edging Asiatic Boy in a photo for third.
Dettori earlier claimed victory in the 1450 BST aboard Rio de La Plata.
Those two wins should put suggestions that Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin operation may be in decline to rest.
 | I knew he would battle to the line |
"Ramonti is a good horse and now he's shown to the world that it wasn't a fluke at Ascot - he can do it again," said Dettori.
"They went a very strong pace and I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a sprint so I took it up two-out and I knew he would battle to the line."
