Tariq (right) was by far the fastest finisher

Tariq produced a storming finish to win the Group 2 Betfair Cup at Glorious Goodwood.

Dunelight made most of the running, accelerating clear with two furlongs to go, and was still clear as they entered the final furlong.

But Tariq, who had been tracking the favourite Asset, was reeling the leader in with every stride.

Tariq hit the front with half a furlong to go and won by a length and a quarter from Asset, with Dunelight holding on for third.

Earlier, Yellowstone held off a late challenge from fellow joint favourite Aqaleem to win the Group 3 Gordon Stakes over a mile and a half.

Lion Sands made the early running from Tranquil Tiger and Heron Bay.

As they entered the final couple of furlongs Yellowstone came to challenge Lion Sands, with Aqaleem trapped in the pack.

Aqaleem finally found some space with a furlong to go but Yellowstone won by a neck, with Raincoat in third.
