Sir Percy heads St Leger entries
Sir Percy and trainer Marcus Tregoning
Sir Percy was a first Derby winner for trainer Marcus Tregoning
Derby winner Sir Percy is among the 52 entries for the 230th St Leger, the final English Classic of the season.

The Marcus Tregoning-trained colt edged victory at Epsom after coming second in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.

With traditional venue Doncaster closed for redevelopment, the 1m 6f St Leger will be held at York on 9 September.

Race sponsors Ladbrokes have installed Dante Stakes winner Septimus as the ante-post favourite for the 475,000 race, the world's oldest Classic.

Septimus is one of 17 entries from the stable of Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien, who has won the St Leger three times in the past five years.

Rampallion heads the five entries from the Godolphin operation, who have won the race on four occasions.

The St Leger is one of the few races to so far elude former champion trainer Sir Michael Stoute but his Papal Bull has been made second favourite for the Classic.

The race has been held once before at York - back in 1945 when Doncaster was not in a fit state after being used in the war effort.
