Yeats won the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial |
Former ante-post favourite Yeats has been ruled out of the Vodafone Derby on Saturday. The colt, unbeaten in three starts, is suffering from a muscle problem.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien, whose main contender now looks to be Meath, made a decision on Yeats' participation after exercising him on Wednesday.
Snow Ridge is now favourite with all the major bookmakers to give jockey Frankie Dettori his first win in the big race.
O'Brien said: "We looked at him again this morning and his muscle problem has not improved sufficiently.
 | It is very disappointing for everyone here - Yeats has always worked like a champion |
"We think it is in the best interest of the horse not to run in the Derby. We plan to give him a complete rest." Yeats had been ante-post favourite for the Derby since winning on his debut in September 2003.
As Yeats drifted in the betting, North Light was among rivals who were supported.
Ladbrokes also reported a sizeable chunk of money for Salford City, laying the David Elsworth-trained colt to lose over 100,000 in an hour.
