Thirty-nine horses set off in the 2004 Martell Cognac Grand National but only 11 finished. All horses returned safely although jockey Tom Scudamore was taken to hospital for an X-ray on his wrist after being unseated by Shardam at the third fence.
And James Davies, riding for the first time in the race, also went to hospital with a neck injury.
