Grand National winner Monty's Pass is set to be aimed at the Aintree classic again next year after suffering no ill effects from his convincing victory. The mount of Barry Geraghty stormed home by 12 lengths after an almost flawless display of jumping around the four-and-a-half mile circuit.
Supreme Glory was second with Amberleigh House two lengths further back in third.
And the winning Irish trainer Jimmy Mangan admitted the horse could line up again for the world-famous steeplechase again next year.
"He's absolutely brilliant this morning and is out eating grass at the moment," said Mangan, whose return home to Ireland was delayed after he missed the boat on Saturday night.
"And I would think we'd have a crack again next year."
The last horse to win back-to-back Grand Nationals was the legendary Red Rum in 1974-1975.
A celebration and homecoming party is planned for Monty's Pass and jockey Geraghty at Mangan's base in County Cork on Sunday.
"He's due home this evening," the trainer said.
"Barry Geraghty is riding in Tramore and then he's coming up to the village where I come from and there's going to be a big parade there."
