Club director of security Jeremy Phipps resigned on Wednesday in the wake of the BBC's Panorama programme which alleged corruption in the sport.

The announcement came after Jockey Club chiefs met for the first time since the documentary aired on Sunday.

Senior steward Christopher Spence and executive director Christopher Foster were both out of the country when the programme was broadcast.

Caborn told BBC Radio Five Live that it was important to flush out any "criminal activity" in the sport as soon as possible.

"I've asked the Jockey Club to come and see me," he said.

"I think it is in everybody's interests that we root out any criminal activity or cheating in that sport.

"It is wrong and it must be rooted out. They have the responsibilty for doing that, and I hope I can help them."
