Hockey: Ipswich Ladies adapt for Harleston Ladies clash

Hockey

Ipswich Ladies are preparing to adapt their game plan ahead of Sunday's derby clash with Harleston, according to coach James Kingstone.

Conference East leaders Ipswich struggled to overcome Harlestone 2-0 when they last met in October.

"It's a huge game this weekend. We set ourselves up in training this week to play a different way," Kingstone told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"We'll play in a way that combats their strengths, we hope that comes off."

The Suffolk side have won their last three league outings to sit one point clear of second-placed Sevenoaks.

But Harleston, who are sixth, have made up for their poor start to the campaign by winning every league game in 2011.

I think with the run-in now it's going to be great to have Caroline Stuart back, with a bit of experience

"When we played them at their place they really should have been three or four nil up at half-time," explained Kingstone.

"We really struggled but second half we changed a few things and we could have won more comfortably than we did.

"They've got Emily Smith who used to play for us, she's a fantastic player, so we know it's going to be very tough."

Ipswich will be without Lizzy Aldous and Millie McWhirter, whose injuries are likely to keep them out for the rest of the season.

But goalkeeper Caroline Stuart will return from international duty with New Zealand.

"We welcome Caroline back, we hope she's not too jetlagged," said Kingstone.

"Although Jade Ellis, our young second team keeper has done well for us, I think with the run-in now it's going to be great to have Caroline back, with a bit of experience."
