The England women's team suffered a nasty shock in their last warm-up game before the World Cup in Argentina later this month, losing 5-1 to the USA.

America did not qualify for the World Cup and are four places below England in the world standings but eased past them for the second time this week.

Crista Cullen put England ahead on nine minutes but Katie O'Donnell levelled.

Jesse Gey and Keli Smith made it 3-1 before half-time and further goals by Gey and Katelyn Falgowski sealed it.

"The USA were better than us, more committed than us and fully deserved their victory," said head coach Danny Kerry afterwards.

Kerry will announce his squad for the World Cup, which starts in Rosario on 29 August, on Monday.

England are in Pool B of the 12-team tournament, where they line up against hosts and winners of the 2009 Champions Trophy Argentina, Beijing Olympic silver medalists China, Spain, Korea and South Africa.
