Kerry Williams and Jo Ellis scored their first senior England goals in a 2-1 victory over Olympic champions Germany at Cannock. Williams, winning her third cap, struck in the 52nd minute and Ellis, making her fifth appearance, doubled the lead five minutes later.
Nadine Ernsting-Krienke's late penalty corner ensured a nervous finish for England but they held on.
The match was England's last before next month's World Cup in Madrid.
Coach Danny Kerry was impressed his side followed up Thursday's 1-1 draw against Germany with a victory.
"We have worked hard on a number of aspects of our play and I was delighted with the application of those elements in our game," he said.
