England and Ireland's hockey World Cup hopes hang in the balance after both were beaten on Monday. England went down 3-2 to Pakistan despite both Simon and Richard Mantell getting on the score sheet.
Ireland's hopes suffered a huge blow on when they were beaten 3-2 by Egypt in the qualifying tournament in China.
The Irish led twice thanks to goals by John Jermyn and Karl Burns, but two strikes by Mohammed Mohammed helped the Egyptians claim a comeback win.
England now have to beat Belgium on Wednesday if they are to make the semi-finals.
Anything less than a victory will mean they have to win a further two matches in the classification games to book their World Cup place.
Ireland may need to get at least a draw on Wednesday against Pakistan to qualify.
While Pakistan have not been at their best in this qualifying tournament, they will still be fancied to comfortably beat the Irish.
