Norfolk's Piggy French fielded seven horses at Burnham Market |
Britain's Oliver Townend and Australian Paul Tapner won the three-star classes at the Burnham Market Horse Trials. Tapner, on Stormhill Michael, finished five points clear of Norfolk's Piggy French on Some Day Soon in section Q. In section P, Townend and Ashdale Cruise Master ended three points clear, with Tapner on Inonothing in second. French, last year's European silver medallist, took the two-star category on board Paris, with Australian Bill Levett and One Too Many NJ in second. "It doesn't always go that well when I come home to Norfolk, I don't know what it it, but I always love coming back here," French told BBC Radio Norfolk. "I get so much support so it's lovely to give all the supporters something back." Despite having sprung a surprise on Some Day Soon at the European Championships in Fontainbleau in September, French is not setting any targets for Badminton at the end of April. "I'm just going to go there and do my very best, you never know with horses, but I'll be aiming high," added French.
