The Isle of Man team has made an exceptional start at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Idaho. The island's floor hockey team had a day to remember on Sunday, recording victories over Austria, Japan, the USA and Costa Rica. Andy Ramage of the Isle of Man team said: "We've put ourselves in a very powerful position, with some very strong displays. "To score nine against Costa Rica rounded off a really good day." The island started off with a 4-1 win over Austria before beating Japan 2-0 thanks to a brace from Daniel Kelly. Next they destroyed the hosts 7-0 with Andrew Richardson (two) among the scorers and an impressive performance from Chelsea Scott. The round robin competition then began with the island racking up an impressive 9-2 winning score line against Costa Rica. Next the The Isle of Man play Jordan on Monday.
