Rose claims double medal success

Rose was sixth in the downhill event at the Turin Winter Paralympics

British Paralympian Sean Rose made a successful return to Turin with a silver and bronze in the IPC World Cup races at Sestriere.

Rose, who competed at the 2006 Winter Paralympics at the same venue, opened with silver in the second of the two downhill races.

It puts him second in the world rankings for downhill.

He followed that up with bronze in the super combined which added the downhill results to a slalom score.

"It has been one of the best days of my life. It is an awesome course and so fast - I can't remember going this quick since the Paralympics in 2006," the 36-year-old, who is based in Cambridge, told his personal website.

"I laid it on the line, managed to stay upright and flew down the course. Being first out of the gate in the sitting category, I had to sit at the bottom after my run and watch everyone come down with fingers crossed and I kept the lead until the last skier."

Rose's fellow Paralympian Russell Docker finished ninth in the first downhill race and was 17th in the second for some crucial World Cup points.

Rose and Docker now head to the Paralympic Winter World Cup which begins on 2 February in Solleftea, Sweden, followed by the World Championships in Korea.
