Video - Eleventh heaven for Roberts

Britain's Dave Roberts has failed in his bid to become Wales' record Paralympic gold-medal winner, but is delighted at his Beijing efforts.

Roberts' 4x100m team ended fifth in their Monday final, leaving him level on 11 golds with Tanni Grey-Thompson.

"Equalling Tanni's record means the world to me. It wasn't something I had publicly targeted before I had come out here - maybe privately," said Roberts.

Tanni said: "That Dave's been so dominant for so long is superb."

Roberts added: "Tanni is probably the greatest athlete Britain has ever produced so maybe I will be mentioned in the same breath as her one day.

"I came here to win medals and I want to become better every time I get into the pool. Eleven golds after three Games - I can take that.

"It's good for Wales. When I started swimming I never imagined I would get this so it was special."

Tanni added: "I know beating my 11-golds is something Dave has been aiming for over the last four years and as soon as I retired, it was something that became quite important to him.

"However, I think it is a bit of a shame on the Paralympic record-keeping that they have found Mike Kenny, a (GB) swimmer who has won 16 golds - more than him or I."
