Murray was the first Briton to win an individual boccia medal in 2000

Boccia player Nigel Murray will bid for another Paralympic gold medal in Beijing after being selected on the Great Britain team for the Games.

Murray, who won gold in Sydney in 2000, heads a four-strong team who will compete in the BC1 and BC2 categories.

He will be joined by teenagers Zoe Robinson and David Smith as well as another Games debutant Dan Bentley.

"It's been a tough selection process but I'm really pleased and excited now to be going to Beijing," said Murray.

"Beijing will be my third Paralympics but I'm still really looking forward to it, as though it were my first. We've got a young and exciting team that is currently ranked number one in the world but with that comes more pressure to perform."

Murray and Smith were among the GB team that took gold at the Boccia World Cup in Vancouver in 2007.

Smith won individual gold in the BC1 category and is currently ranked world number two while Murray is ranked third in the BC2 category.

The team's final international event will be in July in Wigan where they will compete against 10 of the top countries in the world.

The Boccia events at the Paralympics take place at Fencing Hall of the National Convention Centre between 7-12 September.
