Whiley is set to move further up the rankings following her win

Warwickshire teenager Jordanne Whiley has claimed the biggest victory of her career by winning the Sion Indoor Wheelchair Tennis event in Switzerland.

The 15-year-old beat three top-25 players to take the title, including defeating world number 11 Agnieszka Bartczak of Poland in the final.

Whiley, currently ranked 42 in the world, recovered from losing the first set to win 0-6 7-5 6-1.

Last weekend she retained her Junior Masters girls singles title.

Whiley put in a strong display to beat world number 21 Karin Suter-Erath in the last eight before defeating German second seed Katharina Kruger in the semi-finals.

But she made a slow start in Sunday's final against Bartczak and soon found herself a set and a break down.

However, the Halesowen player battled back to level at 2-2 and then she came from 15-40 down to move 5-4 ahead before winning two of the next three games to level the match.

The deciding set belonged to Whiley as she reeled off the last five games of the match to secure her first overseas senior title, which is set to take her up the world rankings to just outside the top 30.

Meanwhile, Scotland's Gordon Reid made up for the disappointment of missing out on a place in the field for the men's main draw singles by winning the second draw event.

The 16-year-old defeated Switzerland's Daniel Pellegrina 6-3 7-6 and the win will see him move closer to his highest career ranking of 60 achieved in March last year.

Whiley and Reid will now bid to defend their titles at the North West Challenge in Preston in just over two weeks' time.
