Whiley is aiming for a place at this year's Beijing Paralympics |
British pair Gordon Reid and Jordanne Whiley completed a clean sweep of titles at the International Wheelchair Tennis Junior Masters in France. Reid, 16, beat Dutch top seed Tom Egberink 6-3 6-3 in his first Junior Masters boys singles final. The Scot had earlier partnered Poland's Jaroslaw Zyla to success in the boys doubles final. Whiley retained her girls singles title with a hard-fought 6-7 6-4 6-3 win over American top seed Emmy Kaiser. The Warwickshire 15-year-old had been beaten by Kaiser in a final set tie-break in the round robin phase. But she made a confident start to the final and was rewarded with her second title after she had earlier teamed up with compatriot Louise Hunt to successfully defend their girls doubles title against the American pair of Kaiser and Mackenzie Soldan. The tournament ran alongside the final four days of the renowned Les Petits As tournament for able-bodied players aged 12-14. Reid, Whiley and Hunt will now compete in this week's Sion Indoor tournament in Switzerland.
