Fearnley & Roy spring surprises
Australian Kurt Fearnley
Fearnley was narrowly outside the Great North Run course record
Australian Kurt Fearnley completed a good week to win the men's wheelchair race at the Great North Run.

Fearnley, who also triumphed in Thursday's Tunnel 2K race, claimed an easy win in 42 minutes and 42 seconds.

Second was Germany's Ralph Brunner who crossed the line in 46.07, a second ahead of Briton Tushar Patel.

Canada's Diane Roy defeated defending champion Shelly Woods from Blackpool to win the women's race in 50.36 with Woods managing 51.07.

Francesca Porcellato of Italy was third in 53:36 with Tanni Grey Thompson fifth.
