Norfolk is hoping to win his 10th Super Series title |
World quad number one Peter Norfolk stayed on course for a third British Open title in four years with an easy semi-final win in Nottingham. Norfolk beat world number three Nick Taylor of the United States 6-1 6-3.
He will face Israel's Shraga Weinberg in Sunday's final after Weinberg beat Canada's Sarah Hunter 2-6 6-0 6-2.
Esther Vergeer of the Netherlands won her sixth consecutive women's singles title with a 6-3 6-0 victory over compatriot Jiske Griffioen.
Vergeer, whose last defeat came at the 2000 British Open, broke in the third and fifth games and although Griffioen, the world number four, retrieved one break, Vergeer converted her second set point of the first set.
She then sped through the second set, converting her first championship point.
"The wind was pretty strong and was swirling all ways in the first set and neither of us were able to catch the ball as firmly as we would usually expect to," said Vergeer afterwards.
"In the second set the wind was still strong but it was all one direction and I managed to start reading it better, which was a big factor. It's tremendous to win this tournament yet again."
In the men's singles semi-finals both the world's top two ranked players were beaten.
Robin Ammerlaan of the Netherlands beat world number one Michael Jeremiasz of France while Satoshi Saida of Japan defeated his compatriot and world number two Shingo Kunieda.
Third seed Ammerlaan, the 2003 British Open champion, avenged defeat by Jeremiasz in the last two semi-finals in Nottingham to win 6-4 1-6 7-5.
Saida, the world number four, edged the opening set on a tie-break before Kunieda recovered to take the second.
But Saida took a 3-1 lead in the deciding set and went on to wrap up a 7-6 4-6 6-2 victory.
