Shirley won 100m gold at the Athens Paralympics |
American sprinter Marlon Shirley has pulled out of the Visa Paralympic World Cup with a hamstring injury. Shirley, 27, won gold in the T44 100m at last year's Paralympics in Athens but was beaten in the 200m by South African Oscar Pistorius.
The inaugural event will feature four disciplines - athletics, wheelchair basketball, track cycling and swimming.
Over 350 athletes are expected to take part in the competition in Manchester, which starts on Thursday 12 May.
Organisers have also announced that the athletics programme at the Manchester Regional Arena on Sunday 15 May has been brought forward and will now begin at 1155BST, rather than 1400 as originally billed.
